  • Summer - Cnaeus Poppaeus takes Segestica with very little opposition.  Titus Vellius dies in a cavalry charge protecting Tingi from the Scipii. Cnaeus Poppaeus defeats Amulius Suetonius of the Brutii west of Segestica.
  • Winter - Flavius Varus aka Flavius the Cunning dies of old age.
 



Summer 150BC - Cnaeus Poppaeus enters Segestica with very little opposition from the Brutii.


Summer 150BC - Tingi, Titus Vellius defended Tingi from the Scipii.  Here, archers use flaming arrows on the approaching Scipii soldiers.


Summer 150BC - Titus Vellius thought it would be a good time to send his cavalry out of the walls and harass the invaders but his cavalry was annihilated.
His men seeing their commander in grave danger rushed out of the gates to rescue him but they were too late. Fierce fighting ensued and heavy losses on both sides.  Vellius' men would not give up and continued sending men out of the gates until even the achers were the last units to fight hand to hand until the Scipii forces broke their will and retreated.


Summer 150BC - General Amulius Suetonius of the Brutii, having no cavalry except his own persona guards had to protect his right flank against the cavalry of Cnaeus Poppaeus of the Julii. Suetonius died in the engagement. The Brutii main force then were flanked by on left and right by Poppaeus' large cavalry. Seeing they were flanked, the Brutii  could not hold their line and when the legionaires of the Julii charged, chaos ensued and the route began.


Summer 150BC - Poppaeus orderes his line to charge the flanked Brutii legionaires.

149BC
  • Summer - Iuvavum riots killed 1300 civialians.  Arretium plague killed 1400 civilians.  Secundus Vellius dies fighting a small Brutii force east of Patavium. Death of Marcian, wife of Kaeso Pennus the Cunning. Battle of Thessalonica - Two large armies of the Julii (who were bribed by a Julii diplomat several years back) battled with two large Brutii Legions on the hills east of Thessalonica.  The carnage was great as four large armies confronted each other.  The first engagement came on the Legion of Commander Decimus who had his forces on top of the hilltop and faced a Brutii force coming uphill from the north led by Commander Valerius.  On his left flank the second Brutii legion led by General Herius Burrus from the city of Thessalonica approached him with a large contingent of cavalry. Beyond that was Commander Numerius Julii legion approaching from the west. Commander Decimus stood his ground hoping that he would be able to hold out until Numerius arrives.  The Brutii charged from the north and on Decimus' left flank. Decimus men fought valiantly and at moments would appear to have routed the charging Brutii but after a long fight, Decimus could no longer hold out and many of his men were butchered. Some flee towards the direction of Commander Numerius forces that just arrived.  Now the combined legions of the Brutii marched towards Numerius. The Brutii charged downhill and clashed with Numerius men. Fierce fighting ensued but the Brutii not budge the stout line of the Julii legionaires, more reinforcements from Numerius arrived and the Brutii could no longer continue with the assault and retreated.
 



Summer 149BC - General Herius Burrus of the Brutii charged the left flank of Commander Decimus on the hills east of Thessalonica.


Summer 149BC - The charge of the General Burrus cavalry virtually annihilated any resistance of the left flank. Decimus had to send some
of his front line men to reinforce the left flank.


Summer 149BC - Decimus encircled by two Brutii legions, tried to hold on as long as possible hoping the reinforcements of Numerius would come and
save them.


Summer 149BC - At one point, Decimus' men pushed back the Brutii but only for a respite as more legionaires of the Brutii arrived and made another charge.


Summer 149BC - The ranks of Decimus'  defensie line became thinner and thinner until it finally buckled under the Brutii, survivors of of Decimus ran towards Numerius men who were just arriving.


Summer 149BC - After the annihilation of Decimus' forces, the Brutii led by Valerius attacks Numerius.


Summer 149BC - Julii archers thinned down the ranks of the Brutii as they tried to charge the line.


Summer 149BC - The Brutii started their retreat after seeing more reinforcements of the Julii approaching.
 

148BC
  • Summer - Plague in Corduba killing 2500 civilians. Battle of Thessalonica II, the forces for Decimus and Numerius faced the Brutii legions of Titus and Servius. This time Numerius faced the two Brutii legions first. He prepared to withstand the attack but a strong cavalry chart on his left flank weakend the left end of his defense line and finally buckled.  The reinforcements of Decimus who had very little men left due to the first battle could not muster enough help and the Julii forces in Greece were no more.
  • Winter - Tertius Gessius dies on his bed in Narbo Martius. The last province of Thrace falls to the Brutii. Luca Vibius' legion from Rome sieged Capua.
 



Thessalonica 148BC - Decimus and Numerius faced Titus and Servius in a second battle east of Thessalonica. This time the Julii armies were defeated
and only a handful of men of Decimus managed to escape but where never seen again.

  • Summer - Ariminum sieged by the Scipii but quickly repelled by Julii reinforcements from Arretium.  Plague in Corduba killed 2280 civilians. Death of Drusilla, wife of late Titus Vellius.  Tingi was taken by the Scipii, the Julii lost foothold of North Africa.
  • Winter - Cnaeus Poppaeus defeats the Brutii legion led by Appius Pompeius
 



Winter 147BC - Cnaeus Poppaeus defeated Appius Pompeius of the Brutii in the shores west of Segestica.
 

146BC
  • Summer - Death of Ustina, wife of late Gaius Rabirius. Tertius Regulus comes of age (16yrs old).
  • Winter - Lovosice sieged by the Brutii. Lucas Vibius surprised General Herius Cipius of the Scipii by sallying out of the fort. Without any cavalry, the Scipii were routed and Herius ran away and deserted his army. This defeat left Capua with very little men to defend it. Lucas Vibus sieged Capua a few days later.

destroyed it.
 

145BC
  • Summer - Siege of Lovosice was lifted by the Brutii when reinforcements of the Julii arrived. The Brutii turned their attention to Iuvavum and began sieging that city.
  • Winter - Cnaeus Poppaeus headed south towards the Province of Apulia to take Tarentum and engaged any Brutii army head on. He caught one unprepared and without cavalry. He sent his cavalry force around and attacked them both at the front and back resulting in a massacre.
 



Apulia 146BC - Cnaeus Poppaeus massacred a Brutii force by surprising them with an attack from the rear.


Apulia 146BC - Cnaeus Poppaeus continued his marched southward through Apulia defeating another Brutii army on the hills north of Tarentum.


Apulia 147BC - By early spring, Cnaeus Poppaeus and his legion sieged Tarentum. By 144BC, all of Italy would be under Julii control.
 

141BC
  • Winter - General Cassius Hemina after defeating a Brutii army in Segestica, entered the province of Pannonia and fought General Decius Dio southwest of the city of Aquincum. The archers of Cassius Hemina were so effective that the Brutii had to withdraw from the battle after a brief engagement on the crest of a snow covered hill. 
 



Pannonia 141BC - Cassius had his men defend a small hill and waited for the Brutii to come. The Brutii legionnaires were decimated during
the approach that the rest lost the will to fight.
 

140BC
  • Summer - General Cassius Hemina of the Julii surrounded and destroyed the reinforcement force of Herius Commodus who was heading to Aquincum to aid the Governor Asinius Manlius.
  • Winter - Cassius started his sieged of Aquincum but did not live long enough. He died from sickness on the way to Aquincum. His legate Marcus Valerius took command
139BC
  • Summer - Legate Marcus Valerius in command took Aquincum. Soon after, General Herius Tubertus took over command and defended the city against Brutii General Sextus Ausonius.
 



Sicilia Romanus 139BC - General Tertius marched into the streets of Messana after a brief battle against the Scipii garrison.
 

136BC
  • Winter - General Herius Tubertus fought the Brutii commander Quintus Publius south of Aquincum. After the surrender of Publius, Herius ordered him to run through the snow and ordered his cavalry to run him down.

hunted animal.

 

135BC
  • Summer - Nero Sextius of the Brutii attacks Segestica which was defended by the garrison commanded by Legates, Verelus Titus and Aelius Augustus. Titus was positioned on the north east of Segestica coming from a patrol when Nero Sextius' legion confronted him.  Aelius Augustus' garrison sallied out and joined Titus' small force and both sides battled.   The Julii positioned themselves on a slope defending the upper side while the Brutii approached upwards. The battle was fierce and the Julii finally took the upper hand when Augustus' cavalry flanked the Brutii from the rear.  The Brutii forced retreated with heavy losses and Segestica was saved.
  • Winter - A Julii Fort west of Segetica guarding the border of Venetia and Dalmatia was overrun by Numerius Domitius of the Brutii.  Fortunately for the Brutii, none of the Julii family members nor any of their Generals were present in the fort.  The Julii garrison commander, Lucellus Numerius, a legate and temporary governor of Segestica took revenged and ambushed the Brutii army of Domitius in the Illyrian and Dalmatia border. 
 



135BC Segestica, Illyria Province - Nero Sextius of the Brutii, charged the left flank of Titus and Augustus and managed to create havok in
the Julii center. Only when the Julii cavalry attacked the Brutii rear that the Julii had the upperhand and Nero Sextius was defeated.


Illyria Province 136BC - The Brutii army of Numerius Domitius took the Julii Fort that guarded the border of Illyria and Dalmatia. The Brutii
legionnaires massacred everyone in the Fort including civilians.


Winter 135BC - Illyrian and Dalmatian border - The Brutii army of Domitius was ambushed by the forces of Lucellus Numerius, coming from the city
of Segestica. The Brutii were completely surprised by the Julii coming over the hilltop and slaughtered them to a man.
 

134BC
  • Summer - Tertius Regulus took the city of Syracuse from the Scipii. The city was not heavily defended. After a brief bombarment and skirmishes on the walls, the Julii walked in and took control of the population.

    General Herius Tubertus led his legion east to conquer the Brutii province of Tribus Iazyges. He went straight to the city of Campus Iazyges expecting heavy opposition. Upon arrival, they were met by the garrison of the city.  After a major battle, the Brutii force were defeated, many retreating towards the woods southeast of the city and Tubertus marched in the city unopposed. After several days, Brutii general Julianus Curtius with a large force approached the city wanting to take it back. Herius Tubertus met them on the same spot where the previous battle occurred in the plains below the city.  This time the Brutii legion was a much a larger force.  The second battle was fierce with many casualties on Herius Tubertus' men. They managed to repulse the Brutii counter-attack only to meet another Brutii force several days later. By the 4th battle, the legion of  Tubertus was reduced to half its number but their general refused to shelter themselves within the walls of the city and continued engaging the countless Brutii forces coming to them wave after wave. After the 5th battle, the Julii soldiers stood ready for another attack at dawn but no Brutii force came.  They have survived the bloodiest battles in the campaign.
  • Winter - Birth of Decimus Brutus, Terentia and Marcus Poppaeus.
 



134BC - Syracuse, Sicilia Graecus - Tertius Regulus sieged Syracuse against a small garrison.  Within a day, the city was under Julii control.


134BC - Campus Iazyges. General Herius Tubertus clashed with several Brutii Legions south of the city of Camp Iagyges. Here they fought the
city garrison and defeated them and took the city without any struggle.


134BC - Campus Iazyges. Tubertus' legion marched toward the unguarded city after defeating its garrison. The city inhabitants opened the gates
without any struggle.


134BC - Campus Iazyges. The second batte of Campus Iazyges began with a barrage of Julii archers against the approaching Brutii army.


134BC - Campus Iazyges. The second battle was among the fiercest, when Brutii wardogs attack the Julii battleline followed by Brutii gladiators.


134BC - Campus Iazyges. The 5th battle was the bloodiest as Herius Tubertus' ordered a charge surprising the Brutii approaching them.


134BC - Campus Iazyges. After the 5th battle, Herius and his beleaguered men, some barely standing, waited for another attack by the Brutii, but
none came. They have survived the onslaught. 

132BC
  • Summer - Sextus Ausinus of the Brutii was on the offensive and tried to take the city of Segestica back from the Julii. He was met by the garrison led by two brothers, legates Marcus and Quintus Cornelius, east of the city. The battle went bad from the start for the Brutii as Quintus outflanked and annihilated the Brutii cavalry and proceed to attack Sextus Ausinus from the rear.
 



132BC - Segestica, Illyria.  The Brutii went on the offensive attacking the province of Illyria but was defeated by the garrison of Segestica.
 

131BC
  • Summer - Birth of Urgulania, Luca Regulus, Lepida, Baebiana.

    The Brutii tried again to take Segestica, this time led by Legate Caius Aulus with two Brutii legions. Julii legate, Verelus Titus, who defeated Brutii General Nero Sextius 4yrs. earlier were outnumbered 2 to 1 by the Brutii force.  Verelus Titus and another Julii legate Gnaeus Galerius positioned their legion on the top of a hill, with archers at the top and legionnaires on the slope, they prepared for the Brutii attack.  The Brutii attack came in several vicious waves, with the Julii holding their ground until Verelus Titus flanked the Brutii on their left.  The flanking move desintegrated and Titus had to retreat back behind the battle line almost losing all his cavalrymen. The second wave came and the defensive line started to buckle but again was repulsed. Charge after charge the Julii held.  The Brutii would pull back and the two sides would get a brief rest. Then with coordination, new battlelines were formed and the Brutii assaulted up the hill again. Julii losses came at an alarming rate. The defensive line became shorter and shorter as men from the rear take over the spaces of the fallen. Gaps were filled with new men. The sun also took its toll on the men. By late noon, it was harder for the Brutii to attack up the slope with so many dead from both sides blocking their path. By late afternoon, the Brutii gave up on the assault and retreated back East.
 



131BC - Segestica, Illyria. The Brutii attacked first with a cavalry charge on the right flank of the Julii. Then they charged up the hill. Here

131BC - Segestica, Illyria.  Verelus Titus and Gnaeus withstood the attack of Brutii leader Caius Aulus in the hill east of Segestica. Looking from

131BC - Segestica, Illyria. Titus managed to break through the left flank of the Brutii and swept down the middle cutting down Brutii soldiers as
they retreated only to be swamped themselves. Titus managed to survive by riding pass their defensive line almost losing all his cavalrymen in
the process.  The second Brutii army was still approaching.


131BC - Segestica, Illyria. The second Brutii army charged up like the first with the Julii army not having enough time for a short rest.

131BC - Segestica, Illyria. The Julii forces of Titus and Galerius have repulsed all Brutii charges thus far, but observing downhill, the Brutii are
regrouping again for another fierce attack.


131BC - Segestica, Illyria. By late noon, with so many losses on both sides, the Brutii finally gave up the assault and retreated back East. Many of
them dying in the process of retreat as they are cut down by archers with their backs exposed. The Julii under Titus have saved Segestica from
the Brutii once again.

  • Summer - Birth of Sabina and Domitia
  • Winter - Birth of Appius Laeca, Spurius Pennus and Livia.
129BC
  • Summer - Birth of Manius Drusus, Gratilda, Marcus Drusus.   A small Julii detachment was massacred by a Brutii army led by Marcus Secundus.
  • Winter - Birth of Amulius Sabinus and Secundus Regulus.  Cnaeus Poppaeus and his army landed in Greece and made fortifications eash of Corinth. General Oppius Sabinus defeats a smaller Brutii army led by Legate Valerius south of Segestica.  A small Julii garrison force of Vicus Gothi were defeated by the Brutii. 
128BC
  • Summer - Birth of Tranquilina

    Oppius Sabinus fortified south of Segestica fought and defeated a Brutii force that appeared outside their fortification.  The Julii army reacted quickly and formed battle formations outside the fort.  Unfortunately for the Brutii, Sabinus had 6 onagers ready in the fort and gave the Brutii attackers massive casualties. Then Sabinus ordered his infantry to move forward and routed the attacking Brutii down the hill.

    Herius Tubertus defended the city of Campus Iazyges from Brutii commander Cnaeus.
     
  • Winter -  Birth of Lucius Octavius and Magna.
 



128BC - Dalamatia. Gen. Oppius Sabinus' forces sallied out of their fort and confronted Captain Aulus of the Brutii. The siege weapons
of the Julii did their work and killed many of the Brutii attackers.


128BC - Winter in Dalmatia. Gen. Oppius again besieged by a Brutii force heading towards Segestica. A successful left flank charge by the Julii
cavalry collapsed the Brutii battleline and again the attackers were repulsed.

 

127BC
  • Summer - Herennius the Mad, governor of Londinium dies of old age. Birth of Marcus Pennus. Coming of age of Titus Tubertus, son of Herius, her of Campus Iazyges.  Death of Crispina. 

    Gen. Oppius Sabinus fought Gen. Herennius Acilius of the Brutii south of Segestica.  The Brutii were completely surrounded and destroyed.

    Cnaeus Poppaeus sieged Brutii controlled Sparta. Brutii Gen. Gnaeus Severus met him on the hills but after a brief skirmish, Severus retreated and left Sparta unprotected.  Cnaeus Poppaeus took control of Sparta immediately.
  • Winter - of Gov. Luca Laeca in Corduba.  Birth of Pomponia.
126BC
  • Summer - Birth of Mariniara. Gen. Oppius Sabinus defeats a Brutii army approaching Segestica from the east.  His cavalry ran around the Brutii force completely hidden through the woods and attack them from the rear.  Within weeks another Brutii army led by Julianus Macro attacked the forth in Dalmatia. Sabinus came and defeated the attacking army which fled back to the east.
  • Winter - Gov. Augustus Turranius of Rome dies of old age. Birth of Hostia, Ancharia and Placus Urbicus. Death of Pompeia.  Gen. Oppius Sabinus massacres a Brutii army heading to Segestica by ambush.

    Herius Tubertus from Campus Iazyges headed east to confront a Brutii army of Marcellus Augustus during the winter. The two forces met in the border of Dacia. Augustus positioned himself on top of a steep hill after seeing Tubertus' legions approaching.  After bombarding the hill with onagers and arrow fire, Tubertus men marched confidently uphill and engaged the Brutii. Seeing the confidence of the Julii legionnaires disheartened the Brutii soldiers that they quickly gave way and retreated.

    Gen. Cnaeus Poppaeus coming out of his fortifications in Sparta headed north to take Corinth.  He was met by two large Brutii armies led by Sextus Caecilius. Poppaeus waited for the two Brutii forces to join together to create one big battleline.  Then the two armies marched towards one another. The battle was bloody but after a long fight on the dusty fields of Greece, the Brutii finally buckled when their left flank was starting to give in and a massive retreat ensued. 
 



126BC - Illyria.  Gen. Oppius Sabinus surprised the Brutii by sending his cavalry through the woods as cover and attacked them from the rear.


126BC - Dalmatia Province. Gen. Oppius Sabinus recued the besieged forth in Dalmatia. Here the Brutii charged folded during the first charge
and then began their retreat.


126BC - Winter in Dacia. Herius Tubertus met Marcellus Augustus army on the hill.

  • Summer - Death of Numerius Vellius in Asturica. Death of Luca Vibius by plague in Capua. Death of Fulvia by plague. Birth of Vibia.
  • Winter - Birth of Numerius Maelius, Placidia, Caius Octavius and Flavius Drusus.
122BC
  • Summer - Herius Tubertus defeated 2 Brutii armies in Dacia led by Manius Constantius and Spurius Agrippa. He had to ordered his men to form an orb, a circular defensive formation and somehow withstood the Brutii attack from all directions. The war of attrition was affecting the army of Tubertus which was far from home and running short of supplies and losing a quarter of men during the defensive battle. The next day, Brutii Gen. Spurius Agrippa comes back again with a fresh army. Tubertus managed to defeat Agrippa but losing more men that his legion was now cut to half the size than when they first came into Dacia.

    Cnaeus Poppaeus coming from Corinth, invades Athens, Attica.  Augustus Paullus surrendered his small Brutii garrison to Poppaeus and open their gates to the Julii.
  • Winter - Death of Titus Maelius in Samarabriva (natural cause). Birth of Decimus Drusus and Arria.  Gen. Herius Turbertus defeats a large Brutii army, led by Manius Constatius on the snow covered plains of Dacia.
 



122BC - Dacia near the city of Porrolissum. Herius Tubertus was outnumbered and had to order his men to form a circular defensive formation
called an "orb," to withstand attacks from the Brutii in every direction. They held on and both armies disengaged.


122BC - Winter in Dacia. Herius Tubertus finally defeats Manius Constantius on the snow covered plains north of Porrolissum.
 

121BC
  • Summer - Death of Oppius Opimius in Carthago Nova. Birth of Julia.  A crushing defeat of the Julii when Brutii Gen. Julianus Quintilianus crushed an Julii army commanded by Legate Quintus Lucirus, east of Segestica.
  • Winter - Birth of Lucius Carausius.
 



121BC - Illyria, the under-strength Julii army led by Quintus Lucirus although equal in size to the forces of Brutii Gen. Julianus Quintilianus, were
overwhelmed and crushed.
