Here is just a quick update with the research of the Jaro baptismal
records. Our original forefather Don Juan Montinola was a captain in
the Spanish Army and a record of his existence goes as far back as the
year 1781. He was present as a witness to the baptism of Manuel
Villa, son of a soldier in the company of Captain Santibañez. Don Juan
Montinola and Santibañez were fellow captains as baptismal
records of soldier's children being baptized under Cpt. Santibañez
and Cpt. Juan Montinola sometimes happened one after another in
the same year or even the same week. There
are several records of soldiers having their children
baptized in the company of Don Juan Montinola himself.
Here are two samples of soldiers under D. Juan Montinola's company that had their children baptized in Jaro:
"Antonia de Fernandez, edad de nueve dias, hija legitima de Nicolas Fernandez y de Rosa Bernarda, soldado (Nicolas) de la campañia de D. Juan Montinola, sacole de pila. Petrona Celestina."
"Soberana Fuentevella (not related to Ysidra Fuentevilla), edad de nueve dias, hija legitima de Salvador Fuentevella y de Maria Benarda, soldado (Salvador) de la campañia de D. Juan Montinola, sacole de pila, Maria Rosa."
Also, a new son was found in the records. He was Ramon Montinola, born 1804, son of Don Juan Montinola and Ysidra Fuentevilla.
More updates as the research goes on.
